At The Consulting House, we’re focused on building a team that provides the right mix of skills and experience to help our clients. As our company grew, Simon brought in his son, Edward, to the executive team. With his father as his mentor, Edward was able to help expand The Consulting House to address our clients’ employees and executives’ personal financial planning needs. Edward was soon followed by his two younger brothers, Paul and Allan to help further expand the business into the retirement and insurance planning service for all of our clients.

Simon Sabat, B.Sc.

Simon_SabatA driving force in the benefits industry for more than 30 years, Simon founded The Consulting House in 1985 after noticing the large gap in expertise and service between large corporations and small- to medium-sized companies. Simon believes that every company, big or small, deserves superior service and a high return on their benefit dollars.

Simon excels in the design, implementation and management of enhanced and cost-effective benefits and Pensions programs. His business philosophy is to give his clients sound, competent advice that yields immediate and sustainable enhancements as well as cost reductions in their benefit programs.

Simon’s groundbreaking strategies have been used by leading organizations across all segments of the business world, and that have been profiled in Benefits Canada and The Globe and Mail.

Simon has also written a number of articles outlining leading-edge benefits strategies and their impact on corporations. Some articles include “Disabling premiums” (Benefits Canada), “More comments on taxable benefits” (The Globe & Mail), and “Is it time to scrap STD?”(Benefits Canada).

Over the years, he has amassed a long list of clients in both the public and private sectors in Canada, the U.S. and abroad. In addition to a B.Sc. degree from McMaster University, Simon has successfully completed many professional and employee benefits courses.

Allan Sabat, GBA

Allan_SabatAllan brings many assets to the table since he joined The Consulting House team in 2005. His responsibilities include business development, advising clients and their employees on executive and employee benefits, client service as well as underwriting of employee benefits. Allan also works with self-employed individuals and families to arrange insurance products to protect against the unexpected.

Allan’s reliable and very personable approach has been recognized in his time in the telecommunication industry (Bell) and auto industry (Ford of Canada). This unique gift enables him to put his clients at ease.

Since deciding to join the family business, Allan has been driving The Consulting House’s significant growth and was responsible for landing one of our largest current clients.

Allan has earned the professional designation; Group Benefits Associate (GBA) and is currently working towards his Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designation. Allan is a member of the Independent Financial Brokers of Canada (IFB) as well as the Canadian Group Insurance Brokers (CGIB) association.

Kareem Shokr, B.A. Hons. (Econ)

Kareem_ShokrKareem brings a diverse work and academic background to The Consulting House. Kareem’s focus in the organization is centered on analyzing renewals, experience reports, contracts, booklets and providing support and assistance to other members of the team when needed.

Kareem studied Finance and Economics at the University of Toronto before graduating in 2013 with an Honours B.A. Economics with Distinction.

Before joining The Consulting House, Kareem was responsible for technical analysis of clients’ benefits and retirement programs, preparation of reports, making recommendations to assist clients in the effective management of such program at another consulting firm. His wide range of skills has ensured that Kareem is productive in more than one area including business development as well.

In his spare time, Kareem is working towards his CFA Designation, while retaining his strong interest in sports.

Eddie Sabat, CFP

Eddie_teamEdward started his career working with Sun Life of Canada, where he gained experience in employee benefits and group retirement departments. Working his way in various positions of increasing responsibility, he was able to discover ways to help clients of his own.

In 2000, Edward joined The Consulting House, where he provides financial services to business owners and high-net-worth individuals. He places a special focus on life insurance, investment portfolios, group benefits and comprehensive financial planning.

Edward has come to understand that your goals and dreams are as individual as you are. Whether you’re starting a new family, preparing for retirement, or running a business, he will work with you or your business to get a thorough understanding of your situation to be able to build the financial security plan that best fits your needs. His holistic approach and an integrated planning process will give you a customized plan that helps manage risk and bring your goals within reach.

After having graduated with his BA in Economics from York University, he has since completed, Mutual Funds Dealers Association of Canada license, the Canadian Securities Course and most recently he earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP™) designation.

Paul Sabat, CFP, CLU

Paul_teamAfter building a reputation helping individuals and companies reach their financial goals, Paul Sabat is known as a leader in Financial and Estate Planning fields.

He graduated from York University with a degree in Economics. Paul immediately joined the Financial Advisor community with TD Canada Trust as an MFDA licensed adviser.

After 5 years of advising the branch’s top clients, Paul decided to expand his service by joining Freedom 55 Financial, a division of London Life in 2002. As a Financial Advisor in Toronto he continued to advise his long time clients.

In 2005, Great-West Life (GWL) called upon Paul’s expertise and made him the Manager of Life Insurance Marketing team in the Greater Toronto Area, advising hundreds of advisors working in the affluent client market. In this time, he was named the top Life Insurance Marketing Manager in Canada, and won the Award of Distinction three times, as well as two Management Conference Awards.

In 2008 he was asked to take the position of Regional Manager, Investments, where he oversaw the largest Investment Distribution team in the country. He was responsible for merging the Toronto and Mississauga Investment Teams and was an integral part of the largest product launch in GWL’s history, the Lifetime Income Benefit.
During Paul’s time with GWL, he served as the Advisor to the Advisors helping them succeed in the Affluent Client Market in both the insurance and investment sides of the business.

Paul’s passion for helping clients eventually led him to the decision to establish Summit Wealth Advisory Group Inc. in 2010, and acquire a 25 year veteran advisor’s client base. Many of those clients have already benefited from Paul’s extensive knowledge and experience.

Paul holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP™), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU™) designations.

Angelo Crupi, MBA

Angelo_teamAngelo brings a diverse work and academic background to The Consulting House. Angelo’s focus in the organization is centered on client service, underwriting of employee benefits and the development and production of renewal and experience reports for our clients.

Angelo teaches Finance, Mathematics, and Economics at Humber College on a part-time basis. Before beginning academic work, Angelo had 10 years of management and executive experience in industry, including responsibilities as a Finance Manager, and a Human Resource Manager. This background has proved beneficial in keeping the reporting and correspondence with customers relevant, useful and timely.

His entry into the Benefits Industry began with an analysis and modification of the reports that The Consulting House provides clients. He is directly responsible for the management and distribution of the company’s newsletter businesshealth™, news bulletins and all mass marketing functions of The Consulting House.

Angelo has a Master’s in Business Administration from Schulich School of Business, and a Specialized Honors Degree in Economics and Business from York University. He is currently working towards his Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate.

Nancy Botelho, Hons. BA

Nancy_BotelhoNancy brings a diverse work and academic background to The Consulting House. Her main focus is centered on overall client service including but not limited to answering client’s questions, problem solving, and preparation of renewals, experience reports, amendments as well as booklet review and approval.

Before joining The Consulting House, Nancy had 10 years’ experience working as an Account Specialist at Sun Life Financial. This background has proved beneficial in keeping the reporting and correspondence with clients relevant, useful and timely.

Nancy’s entry into the Benefits Industry began with an analysis and modification of the reports that The Consulting House provides clients. Along with Angelo, she is responsible for the management and distribution of the company’s newsletter businesshealth™, TCH News Bulletins and all mass marketing functions of The Consulting House.

Nancy has an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from York University.
